The Ambrosia Archive

Ambrosia ran an official site for Escape Velocity at escape-velocity.com. It had a strategy guide covering every ship, every weapon and every mission chain, written by people who had the source code. Then the domain lapsed, a squatter took it, and all of it went dark.

37 of its pages survived in the Internet Archive. They are reproduced below exactly as they were — same words, same tables, same 1996 HTML. The only things changed are the links, so they point at each other here instead of into the void, and the images, which are the originals pulled out of the same captures.

What this is and is not

Everywhere else on this site we rewrite in our own words. This section is the opposite: it is a restoration, and the point is that nothing is edited. Where Ambrosia got a number wrong — and they did, in about eight places — the mistake is preserved here and corrected on our own pages, with the reason written down.

Two of these pages were never finished. /guides/rebel.html and /guides/worlds.html were an "Under construction" placeholder for the whole life of the site, which is why there has never been an official walkthrough of the Rebel storyline. Ours is reconstructed from the game data.
